Born in Kansas City, Missouri to Glenna & Jerry in 1969, her sister followed in 1971. The family relocated to Houston, TX in 1978 first in the Alief and later to the Richmond area. During her early years, Nickie enjoyed playing softball and being on the local swim team. She loved riding her bike, playing basketball, and roller skating through the neighborhood. You most certainly could count on finding her outside enjoying countless activities.
In her early adult life, Nickie traveled throughout Europe and Egypt taking in the culture and sights. She continued the European fashion sense when she returned to the states, which often included wearing silk scarves or broaches. Nickie & her sister, Leann, enjoyed following and attending Def Leppard shows throughout her life. Nickie’s favorite concert was one that her and Leann attended, and were able to get backstage and actually meet the members of Def Leppard. Music was a huge part of her life, and some of her other favorite artists included Prince, Melissa Etheridge, and Bon Jovi.
Nickie enjoyed road trips to see family around the country and traveling to camp at local state parks on her off time. She would often be found staring into the night sky while on camping trips thinking of how many other planets and extraterrestrial life there might be. Nickie also loved unicorns and fairies and also going to the Texas Renaissance festival.
She made a career in web development and moved into building her online store throughout the last two decades. Nickie was always welcoming and loved meeting new people. She had the most contagious smile and loved being the life of the party.
Nickie is survived by her parents Glenna & Jerry Chick; her sister Leann and brother-in-law Scott; nephews Jacob, Scott Jr. & Carter; nieces Amanda, Naomi, & Sierra; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
